Take my word for it that camping is NOT an option. I'm not a nature girl! I'm in Monterey this weekend and I've already met a deer in the parking lot. Why do they like me???
Normally I do better when I'm really busy. It keeps the adult in charge and I'm not so needy and self-destructive. I think it is the unrelenting stress of the intrusive memories and very little sleep that are the real problems. We talked about the lack of sleep this week in therapy. My therapist said that in eastern medicine, sleep is considered one of the key ingredients to good health, mental and otherwise. We talked about the theory that different organs actually need more or less rest and can contribute to the overall level of body energy. It was interesting. He said that is why he is "nudging" taking the sleeping medication. I tend to resist taking it unless I'm really having a hard time.
I'll try to find time to enjoy the ocean while I'm down here. The sunset was amazing tonight. It was cold on the beach but worth it to watch the waves turn pink and gold. My only mistake was that I didn't bring any chocolate with me. It is on my list to get tomorrow, right after I find a starbucks.
