chakras/energy work - im off all supplements/meds

Posted by robot on July 9, 2006, at 23:42:07

I just wanted to share this with everyone. Things have bene changing alot and it seemed stupid to not share it with the folks on this board. It may seem esoteric but really I dont think it is.
I started taking tai chi last year because I was desperate to be more connected to my body. but it turned out to be more. after 7 months or so I started feeling my "chi" or whatever you want to call it. So that made me more committed to it. Because how could you not get interested when you feel this powerful substance in your body?
Last year I had begun spontaneously feeling a tension in my forehead (third eye). This happened after I worked on meditation for awhile without much success. Im not a great meditator. Im stressing this because I think its overemphasized--getting rid of thoughts, focus work. Maybe there are other things to do first if you find meditation hard like I did.
So this year, with the slow chi awakening, I started feeling the 3rd eye randomly again. SO i started to sit and think about it. It was very shy. That little knot of energy would go come and go at first.
INterested in energy work now, I got with a Healing Touch practitioner and did 6 or so hour sessions. With that, and the exercises she showed me, I started feeling the little chakras in my feet. weird. (WHen I find a way to post these exercises on this board I will. they are very easy.)
Ive also been riding my bike or walking 2 hours most days of the week. Before, I have tried cardio exercise but it either made me feel worse or little effect. Now, though, Im sure its potentiating the effects of the energy work.
Ive started being interested in things again, and enjoying music more. For years Ive struggled with anhedonia. Its not gone, but I can see its moving away.
Two weeks ago I was feeling horible and I noticed when I centered my attention on my third eye, my thinking became less anxious and more clear. This observation continued for a week as I decided to think about it throughout my days' activities.
A week later I was sitting down after having watched my third eye for awhile and I felt very relaxed. The energy I had been building on my forehead seemed to 'spill' over my forehead, over my head, and even over my body. NOw, unlike before, I can feel energy awareness all over my head, not just in that one spot.
And as I continue with my chakra exercises Im feeling it more thoughout my body.
My anxiety with speaking to people seems to have greatly diminished just in the past week. I have times when I feel quite a bit more like myself. Im playing music again. Its like all the work I had been doing the past year (especially the last 6 months) built up until it sort of "broke through" and has had some rapid effects.
Im not saying, if youre depressed or whatever then focus on your third eye. That might not be what you should do at all. But I think now that working on this stuff *without* dealing with your chi flow in your body is just not utilizing whats available. It seems that your chi can originate change in your brain instead of just trying to do it with chemicals or whatever.

Has anyone else tried energy healing (Healing TOuch, Reiki) or chakra work? Has it helped you?

Thanks for posting about your experience.

I haven't tried these two things but I've been using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which is also a type of energy work. http://www.emofree.com/

EFT:
"Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture except you don't use needles. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

There's a thread above also on TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique). http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/alter/20060601/msgs/657251.html

I'm feeling excited about EFT, which I've been using a lot. It feels like it really "unstucks" buried emotions and dysfunction. I've been tapping on both relatively trivial issues such as craving an unhealthy food as well as deep core issues such as toxic shame from my childhood, i.e. "I'm wrong". The cool thing is that the emotions come up and they're painful as hell but then through the tapping, they pass! I've been in therapy for a hundred years and in some ways got worse and I think it's because all that pain just stayed stuck in my body. And now I'm freeing it.

I would like to try tai chi some day.

Ill read up on the EFT. It looks really interesting. And they give you info to get started for free?

I feel, too, that talk therapy is limited. Imagination and the body itself seem more rich in possibilty. And that the drugs Ive tried are like hitting myself in the head with a blunt instrument to see if it makes me feel better.

There are CDs you can buy but all I've done is download the manual and read most of it. I've also read numerous other pages on the website.
This page was invaluable:

When it doesn't work.....???

I've been working through some heavy stuff the past couple weeks related to my childhood -- stuff I'd "processed" in therapy before but apparently was still buried in my body and there's no question, affecting how I live my life. From one day to the next after I had felt like I really unloaded some emotional baggage from my body, my blood pressure dropped about 10 points and stayed lower. Amazing.

Hi,

Just wondering from either of you on this thread a little more about the "chi". I did some work ao couple years back on "balancing the Chakrah's with good success. I feel I need to go there again. My visualization of them has always turned inward, like a whirling cyclone affect so was curious as your post sounded like the "third-eye" work was "outside" the body. Can you help clear that up for me??
I too use the EFT method with great success when I remember to use it. You'd think it would be first on my mind, but when I am in emoltional or physical pain my brain does not work right and all reason escapes me. JLX had to remind me once to use it on a problem.....that's what I need a person(al) reminder to "just do it".
My main battle is with fatigue, bordering on exhaustion, most of the time. I used to love everything, now I have to think about if I want to "move" or not!! Not a fun way to live. I am off all AD's now for about 9 weeks and cut down on high-blood pressure meds, walking 30 minutes a day and trying to eat healthier and taking some suppliments. Not seeing the benefits I had hoped to see with all the lifestyle changes, but do feel about 25% better. I do need some "energy" work or something to get moving again!! Thanks for the posts.

This is the end of the thread.
