I think it is interesting... What is means to different people. Thank you for sharing yours. In many ways Angela's sounds nice to me... People around (if you want company), but people who seem happy enough to let you go away someplace and have time to yourself...
I think a lot of people have this image in their minds of what christmas is 'supposed' to be... And then bad feelings for it not being that way. I think that is sad.
I kind of like the idea of... A nice time of year. Of a sense of celebration or... Looking after oneself or... Something. I'm not sure that Christmas quite does that. Or that christmas is quite needed for that, or whatever.
I feel badly that is has religious roots... But is endorsed by the state as a public holiday. I think that people who want to treat it as any other day (the indian dairy / convenience store owner or whatever) should be allowed to... I think that I maybe (possibly) see some sense in the state inforcing a certain amount of holiday per person (though I'm not actually sure on this - if people want to opt out why can't the state respect that?) but I think it would be better for all...
Like how... It sounds like... The Jewish and sometimes Asian (because Bhuddist? Hindu?) communities given an alternative for people who don't want to do Christmas....
Wouldn't it be nice if you could CHOOSE what holdiay you wanted and CHOOSE buisness as usual at other times? But maybe I say this because it would be easier for people like me to opt out across the board (which society seems uniformly opposed to) :-(
NOt entirely sure what to say...
