I agree with you totally, as a teacher myself, I understand fully that children need to be children. They have a lot of pent up energy that needs to be burnt off.
I know that I am not a perfect teacher, but I try to understand where my students are coming from, before I make a decision to discipline.
Where I work, some of these children have left a horrible situation at home to come to school. If they are having a hard time adjusting to the day, I believe that we should give them time to adjust or at least figure out why. They may have just gotten beat, raped, or they are hungry because mom was too busy seeing where she would get her next crack fix.
I get so angry when a teacher where I work goes out looking for reasons to write students up.
I know that I am off the subject, but this is just something else I needed to vent about.
I got so angry, because I was working with this particuliar child, and he was doing so well. Another one of his teachers said, "I am trying to get him back at saacc." (A place for delinquent children) I am trying to keep him off the streets and in school, and she is trying to put him in an unproductive place. He was doing well in my class. Oh it makes me so mad!!!!
Sorry for venting so much.
luv ya,
Lynn
