I know, that's what makes me esp. sad now. But I guess the Dr. back then (over 20 yrs ago!) just didn't know, or wanted to play it on the safe side. Oh well. Poor kitties.But it's good to know...when I have kids, I can keep my current cats! :) I'm glad you had a doc who understood too.
