I read some scary stuff the other day about aspartame, or NutraSweet, the artificial sweetner found in Diet Coke.
Okay, I gotta admit, I was hitting the Diet Coke pretty hard. (I can get addicted to anything if I put my mind to it.) So maybe all that caffeine wasn't too good for me either. But I read this checklist of symptoms of "asparatme poisoning" and it seemed to describe me pretty accurately: mood trouble, muscle aches, skin problems... Gee, I sound like a real prize, huh?
I decided to stop using the stuff for about a month, to see if I feel any better. It's been a couple days now, and I feel like I've been run over by a truck.
I really doubt my mood troubles are caused ENTIRELY by aspartame, but if they're ameliorated even slightly by getting off the stuff I'll be satisfied. Anybody else had any experience with this?
