> I filed a complaint against my therapist one year ago, and today I received a letter from the local branch of the Medical Board. I am supposed to contact the investigator for the case and schedule an interview. I'm not exactly looking forward to this...I feel very anxious!! Has anyone out there gone through this? Does anyone know anything about it? I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has information. Thanks.

Interesting you should mention this because I filed a complaint against my medical doctor at UCONN for discharging me from his practice because of a number of stupid reasons, one of which involved being "late several times" for appointments. Really earth-shattering, isn't it.

I first contacted UCONN Medical in Farmington, Connecticut, but, of course, it was easier for them to get rid of me than to discipline this incompetent, vulgar MD.

But then I did something else: I contacted Connecticut's Board of Public Health, and Department of Consumer Protection, the Governor's Office, etc., etc., etc. In other words, I dropped this into the laps of those in state government that are suppose to be there when you need them. If they can't help, they will put you in touch with those who can.

Then I did something else: I went federal and notified all these federal agencies.

Then, in conclusion, I decided to put up a quick web page as a public service to inform the potential 1.9 billion people out in cyberville about this quack. I included names and addresses and even digital pictures. Remember, my dear, via the Internet, you can reach more people in one hour than Oprah Winfrey can in one week. Stay tuned for the URL.

Something else to remember: word-of-mouth advertising, good or bad, is the best kind ... and payback is a bitch with a keyboard and a modicum of imagination.

Good luck, and don't be anxious; however, unless you have a lawyer and/or this is a serious case of malpractice, you'll be spinning your wheels for a long time. This is the way it is.
