It does sound such a difficult thing to do just by emails, and even more so if they are deliberately being made less personal!
I've found that talking face-to-face is more powerful and maybe supportive, tho of course it means slogging to someones house at a set time, and is probably more expensive. Mine didnt help in any profound way, so I also got really fed up and stopped in the end.
It may be that you do need some more counselling (in a different way), if that is an option?
From what you say, it sounds like you have got some benefit, but are at the stage of opening up and getting into things, which is the opposite of being ready to stop.
So bound to feel a bit abandoned and deflated.Tho that can happen anyway whenever someone stops.
