How many Amerindian people lived in the Americas prior to the European conquest? They thought the world was them. Was there 200 million of them?
What about the Belgian Congo?
The king of Belgium promises to bring to those peoples the benefits of European civilization, including of course, Christianity. Within a few decades a third of the population had been worked to death to get the rubber quota. The saddest picture I have ever seen is of a father staring at the foot of his little daughter, because of non-compliance with the demands of the quota.I like to think (some of the time, at least) from those peoples' perpective.
I suppose Lou that I am uneasy about absolute claims to truth.
