Antidepressants and vitamin supplements

Posted by lymom3 on October 20, 2008, at 21:47:39

I've gone to dozens of doctors trying to feel better....just like everyone else here. One dr. recommended a B-Complex formula because I take antidepressants. My chief complaint is I am always tired and foggy with my Prozac and Wellbutrin. That is better than being manic or suicidal but there is still a quality of life issue, you know?

I have done some reading on the internet and it looks like too much B vitamins can also cause fatigue. I talke only 1 pill a day but some of the dosages of the different B vitamins are 1000% of the recommended daily value. Could this actually be too much?

I know that my hormones are ok, I am not anemic or diabetic or anything that the endocrinologist, neurologist, primary care doc and wholistic doc have tested for. I guess I wonder if they would sell a supplement that would give you so much of a vitamin that it's bad for you. Do any of you have any experience with supplements that have had a negative effect rather than a positive one?
