Please be aware that magnesium can worsen depression/insomnia if taken in too high dose, since it works as an inhibitor of CNS.
I think the best form of Magnesium is Magnesium Orotate. 100 mg of elemental magnesium will be sufficient. It is usually recommended to supplement magnesium with calcium in a 1:2 ratio since they are considered antagonists.Orotate is easily absorbed and converted to uridine, which is known to be antidepressive in animal models (forced swim test), especially if combined with fish oil.
