I'm taking 3-6mg melatonin at night right now. It does seem to help me fall asleep more easily. I tried it many times in the past but felt little or no benefit, but I was taking hefty doses of benzos then and I think that may overwhelmed the effect of melatonin.
I'm a night owl, so I like the idea of melatonin allegedly being able to reset the circadian rhythm. Only works for this if I feel like going to bed and actually take it on time though, which is rare.
