Well I think the layout of the pages was designed in the days when most people had a 15" monitor running in 800x600.
These days I don't know anyone with a smaller than 17" monitor running at 1024x768. I know a lot with much larger monitors & I expect so do you.
So I think it would be useful to take advantage of that extra space by:
1. Allowing the subject line of threads to be longer.
2. Increasing the dimensions of the "enter your post" text box to make for easier reading of your own post before hitting the submit button. I know I have to hit submit to see all my typos :)
3. Maybe make the main site features more obvious / larger / colourful. I only realised 5 mins ago that there's a Babble Chat room...! Mind you, I wasn't looking for it & I do miss things sometimes. But if the main site features "Boards", "Babblemail", "Chat", "Search", etc were big & colourful, I might have noticed them earlier.
4. I know some people have Babblemail turned off unintentionally. I've had to post to their thread to get them to turn it on. So maybe a little box in the top RH corner of the screen that ALWAYS APPEARS that said "Babblemail=OFF" & other useful settings choices would be good.
4.1 Add to the above the same "sticky" box in the top RH corner that ALWAYS APPEARS when you're reading inside a thread that says "Email notifications re this post=ON", etc might be useful too :)
