hemochromatosis/iron overload

Posted by River1924 on July 1, 2005, at 1:07:01

Does anyone have hemochromatosis, gone through the initial treatments, and had their psychiatric problems lessen? I really hope after I donate blood weekly for the next year...my constant fatigue will go away. Hemochrmatosis can cause depression, too. That would nice if that went away. No more anti-depressants! Let us hope. Right now my ferritin levels are at 1040 and the ideal is 25 to 75. Each pint of blood I get out of me will take me down only 30 points. Seems like a lot of pints I'll need to flush. I have a long slow process of healing ahead. But I'd like to know if anyone else has gone through this and improved. River.
