When I was on Nardil and then Parnate I drank tons of coffee, even double shots of espresso, to help with the sleepiness. Never a problem.
Also, while many meds are officially contra-indicated with MAOIs, much of this is caution rather than real facts. The Pharmacological Tips area of this web site has a section on MAOIs and stimulants. Seems it was used more often in the 50s when MAOIs were all there was. I've also heard of success of Nardil with Wellbutrin, though this is also officially contraindicated. I suspect the real issue is that pdocs today so rarely use MAOIs, they haven't the confidence to be creative.
