ummm.... i think it goes like this but i'm starting to get confused. :-) i think wellbutrin weakly effects serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. somebody go ahead and correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that's it.
for me, i just can't take too many drugs that deal with serotonin. i can always tell, because i get the same side-effect... can't pee. (sorry for being honest *she blushes*) obviously, it's a lousy side-effect. apparently any med that lists "painful erections in males" as a sideeffect, causes this can't pee sideeffect in me. (i've got a small list of meds now that i can't take.)
when i was only on serzone, i just couldn't get my dose up high enough without my body swelling up. also with serzone you can get these flashes of light/trails of light in your vision, but i found that very tolerable and not too bothersome. but that was when i was just on the serzone. and i was able to stay on it for 3-4 months before i had that swelling that was too painful to continue taking it; that really was too bad because i really loved it. i really like wellbutrin, too... but the serzone was less activating/agitating as the wellbutrin and that was the perfect balance for me. for me, serzone was like a perfect combination of an activating/get you moving med and a calming med. blablabla.... so when i tried to add just 50mg of the serzone to my current wellbutrin dose, i swelled up again and the bathroom thing... even at only 50mg (remember i had previously taken 350mgserzone.) so FOR ME, i seem to be at the perfect level of serotonin effecting meds... even the weakest of them. so i just take the wellbutrin. -terra
