if i had to predict...

Posted by alexandra_k on June 14, 2022, at 18:06:40

the way things are going in nzl...

i suppose what i think likely to happen...

is that someone will do something radical.

assassinate jacinda ardern.

blow up parliament.

something like that.

and then the chinese military will move in.

it will be back to a period of lockdown.

they'll try and impose some structure to turn the economy productive.

like what or how?

i don't know...

i don't know how that would work...

i don't know.

i do know that we don't have a functioning judiciary.

we don't have a functioning education and training system.

we don't have a functioning system of accreditation. you pay the registration people, you pay you pay you pay you pay you pay you pay you pay the registration people...

i don't quite know how they decide who gets to be one of them...

apparently, the idea is that there is a period, or an amount. i don't know what period or time or what amount.

you work for 10 years on your 3 year PhD?
or is it 20?
50?
how do they decide?
can you get time off for behavior they value?
what kinds or sorts of things?
house-sitting?
sexual favors?
sucking up generally?
or do those sorts of things only make it more likely that they will extend the time they think they are entitled to?

and you pay extra money, too.
2x as much as was quoted when you agreed?
3x?
how do they decide?

is the idea that the sooner you give up.. worship them as all powerful... the sooner they will accept you. embrace you unto themselves, or whatever.

so then you can get busy conning and scamming and scheming the next generation...

?

is the idea like 'better call saul' where the point is that you flinch. rather than sing sing singing from the willingness of your heart.. expressing your genuine joy of the situation whereby you march various people off to their untimely deaths...

if you flinch then no amount of time will ever make that up.

i think the later seems to be right.

the fact that i don't want to be part of a corrupt system. the fact that i don't think it is better to be a slaver than to participate in more equal relationships.

means i make them feel bad about themselves or something. my very existence.

so that's it, then.

thanks for playing.

better luck never.

i am glad i did not have kids.

i don't see anything good or of any value.

well done, peoplel. you win. yay you!!! you win the great life competition!!! enjoy the garbage land of nothing you get to be lord and master slaver over. satan of the hellhole. well done.

wow... so...

So.. Nintendo is Nintendo of America, now, apparently...

So... They are talking about paying their workers (software developers, and the like?) in America...

?

Anyhoo...

Since I chose to invest in them (by way of purchasing various products including Switch Lite, Switch OLED, various game cartridges)...

I was wrong to think that some of the value of the Switch Lite was that kids may be able to hack the system to do things like... Khan Academy.

I did not understand or realise that the 'programmable calculator' thing was a thing that was marketed and explicitly offered as a feature of the thing. That the instruction manual came with explicit instructions as to how you could download and play various programmed.

I mean to say that I was wrongly impressed by the idea of people programming their calculators.

I wrongly believed that they found a way to hack into the system and write programmes of their own...

Anyway...

I think the NZL government got (from California) permission to use various Microsoft Software things that would enable them to continue on their government adminstration of NZL. You know.. MIcrosoft Word. Excel..

Anyway...

Nintendo...

I'm glad they delayed the release of breath of the wild 2. I am still playing breath of the wild 1. I like so much about the open world game. I have so much to do and so much to explore...

It is.. Inhibiting? Postponing? Holding up my seamless enjoyment of the game that.. The combat system is a bit cludgey. There aren't enduring weapons of value or genuinely meaningful crafting.

The controls are weird.. Not sure if it is because they are reversed from Microsoft (go anime) or what...

Maybe that's it. Nintendo was designed to oppress an underclass of japanese???

Education software...

Yis...

Software exclusives...

I don't see anywhere else to go...

Steamdeck did what I thought was built-in (ability to sureptitiously hack the system to do youtube and programming and khan academy sorts of things).

So dropped the ball on that. Unless you want to innovate.

If you cant see your ways forwards.. Then document the history back. Good idea. Do it in real time and seek investors. I'm not seeing the history being told of...

Well, let's see...

Arcade games.

The pre-cursor of pay to win. If enough people are pay to win then no cost in free to play.

If you want to play that game..

message for nintendo...

okay, so, my message for nindendo...

x box and playstation have learned to work together in a 'the game isn't which system is best... which system i should buy... the only sensible answer is that i should buy both systems...'

and that is the game that nintendo should be aiming to get in on.

so...

it is a given that people will buy x box.

it is a given that people will buy playstation.

why (in the face of that) should people buy nintendo?

what does nintendo do, or offer, that they don't or can't or won't?

1) exclusives. exclusive software releases.

ta da.

end story.

other platforms have more promise of hardware capability -- and what is limiting is software development.

think about the brilliant games of the world... they didnt' rely on 4 k resolution. people had intelligence to use minds eye.

it's not about 4k resolution.

steam deck is a monster (size wise and power consumption wise). it's not a sensible portable option.

the kids market is a good idea.

portable with capabiltiy to plug in...

brilliant.

reading in bed with my kindle atmosphric flavor...

those kinds of games..

but they are differnt from origins in arcade systems.

btu you have the arcade system. work that.

tekken.

moral kombat.

japan does combat systems.

double dragon.

sega...

platforms.

donkey kong

alex kidd..

(go on you know you want to!!!)

sonic.

but there's a weirdness or strangeness in, much of it.

i don't know...

anyhooo.. it's a system. that still exists. that enables the use of offline gaming via cartridge.

like a book enables you to study it offline.

portable (genuinely)

proprietry software...

educational software??

want to teach the world to understand japanese???

why not???

seriously?

how do kids in japan learn math?

assuming yuo don't just want them to die (like they do in the western world)

stay strong nintendo!!!

the bottle neck is not in increased hardware development.

the problem is in software. the problem is in intellectual design.

the techincal technology problems are easy....

that's how come it's relatively easy and cheap for microsoft to go about digitally updating or upgrading all of the phenomenal intellectual accomplishments of the past. easier to digitally remaster a past work of art in 4k than make a new work of art.

new works of art are not about 4k resolution. they can be remastered in that (by armies of undergraduates, even)...

but the intellectual design of a new game or a new genre...

priceless.

also dividends.

eventually

one canonly hope sigh.

there is something about a switch lite...

as a devise...

like a TI calculator...

like one of those old mac computers.. the ones with the candy colors...

something in the simplicity of the design (beautiful, user friendly, beautiful user-centric experience much loved by consumers)

and the apparently seamless software integration.

there is the very genuine and legitimate opportunity to immortalise all of the software from nintendo and sega up to now... to have those games playable. Maybe even with updates...

Computer games.. Are like books.

Keeping them current and playable.. Is genuinely like keeping a library. Of historical game value.

Future coders may well want to see the code...

Innovate on the technology that has gone before.

Don't let the greats die. Pacman. Frogger. Donkey Kong. Whatever that lift spy game was...

They are part of the cultural legacy of homo sapiens.

Across cultures...
