My sister just reached 30 mg of Selegiline and then added 1000 mg of Phenylalanine on Saturday. She has a lot of energy and looks the best I have seen her in years but she still says she feels a bit flat. How long after adding the Phenylalanine does it usually take to start boosting the Selegiline? Many thanks,

Well since nobody else has responded yet I'll take a guess and say within hours. She should take it on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before eating to get the maximum benefit. Did she get DL-phenylalanine?

How about depression wise. Since today she feels flat and it is monday (she started on Phenylalanine on Saturday and went up to 30 mg Selegiline last tuesday, does that mean that the combo isn't making a difference? You said within hours so I presume saturday night she should have felt benefits.

I don't know, I was only saying that dopamine and PEA levels should go up soon after taking it. Even the doctors don't know how these drugs work, with a SSRI serotonin levels go up the first day but it takes weeks before it really kicks in.

> moggerThe boost would be quite quick, potentially in less than an hour. The general symptoms of depression, though, might take some weeks to gradually lift. Depression is a complex disorder, and you may not be addressing all of the possible causes of the symptoms, or the symptoms may arise indirectly (i.e. by something affecting something which affects something else).
I don't know what else she's doing, but make sure she take a B-complex, and starts adding in some fish oil, and antioxidants (vitamin C, E, selenium).
