I just got the results of a hair mineral analysis and it shows very low levels of lithium.
What problems could this cause?
Could it have anything to do with my anxiety and obsessive thoughts?
Would it be worth me trying lithium?I also had very low manganese, very high zinc and low magnesium, selenium and vanadium.

I wish I could answer your question more thoroughly, but you might want to try lithium orotate which can be ordered on the internet without a prescription. I guess a lot of people just take it as a supplement anyway. It has helped me a little with anxiety and depression, although I am not 100%. Good luck

If you are going to consider taking Lithium of any sort, I highly recommend doing it under the supervision of a psychiatrist. If you take the wrong dosages, you can contract Lithium poisoning which is a very serious and often fatal condition. You have to have your Lithium levels monitored via blood testing and they must be between a certain range for it to be therapeutic. Anything above is extremely dangerous and anything below is of no benefit at all.
I have been taking Lithium Carbonate since July of this year for bipolar disorder. Lithium is most often used for bipolar because it tends to keep you from swinging back and forth between total mania and severe depression. I still get depressed and ocassionally I feel that burst of mania coming on, but for the most part it is under control. It works, but you have to use it under the care of a physician.

Definitely only use prescription lithium under a doctor's supervision. But Lithium orotate does not have to be and no blood tests need to be run because it is such small doses of lithium.
My doctor gave me this and it seems to be helping with the depression and anxiety side of it. She says they have been having a lot of success with it with bipolar patients and it has little to no side effects. It might be something worth looking into first if it is just a deficiency you are worried about and not bipolar

Interesting, I just found a site that recommends 45mg a day of lithium orotate plus 3-4g a day of tryptophan for OCD.
