If someone questions the acceptability or civility of a post, should that question not be directed to the individual who made the original post? Shouldn't the moderator be called upon only when those questions cannot be resolved?
I am offended by the reaction to my innocent, polite, and first/last post on the Faith board. I now feel, as others apparently do, very restricted in my freedom to post my opinions, observances, and unsolicited advice (that was a joke) without having it directed to you for suitability. Surely this is not a polite nor indeed a civil way of communicating.
Cannot there not be a resolution to this practice? To be blunt, I do not appreciate having anyone go "behind my back" if they have an issue with something I have posted.
thanks for your time and consideration,
partlycloudy, now thundering.

IMO, either way is OK. The latter approach may potentially be less disruptive...

Well, I do review everything already... So your freedom of speech is already limited...

Let others question, and me decide? You're aware of the latest 3-post rule?

It does get difficult here sometimes, sorry about that...

Yep, we can relax! We are being watched! ....and I for one am very grateful to Dr-Bob for his steady handed hard work at it; watching us.
Thanks, Sir, for all your hard work.

The original request for determination didn't make sense to me either. I have yet to even look at the board in question and now know, I never will.

I think that it would be nice if before a request for determination the person who is concerned could ask the poster to clarify what was meant. That way the poster gets the chance to explain and perhaps even apologise before maybe receiving a PBC.
I notice that Lou (for example) does this sometimes and I think that that is nicer than just going to you directly (except in the case of more straightfowardly abusive posts).
Though I guess that for preference we do not need another rule...
