That's fairly common with any of the ssri's, I'm not sure whether it's because it indirectly messes with the whole adrenal/NE circuit thing, body clock, etc, or whether it's because the natural metabolism process of serotonin is interrupted and its breakdown products are interfered with in a negative way.

Anyway, you can try experimenting with dosing times. if you are dosing in the morning, try evening instead. Try noon. Try mid afternoon. Try mid morning. You'll find the best spot for you with a little experimentation like this. Another thing you can do is break the pill into sections and do multiple smaller doses spread out through a day instead of all in one big dose.

The whole issue might just fade away as the body adjusts, and if so that is probably in weeks not days.

I'm not a fan of lexapro or any other med that is pure serotonin, but since you are already on it and giving it a go I hope these tips might help.

I was on it when new and drug companies asked docs to switch l0 patients to it. I was one and all it did was tire me. I was taken off it after one month. It was totally different than lexapro that at the time was energizing. Is this your first ad? Phillipa

It tires me too. Not the first AD, I tried several. Most give me sleepiness and tinnitus.

Thanks. I will cut the pill in two and take 2 times. I tried it at night and it is almost the same.

I am not happy with escitalopram, it makes tinnitus worse, and lethargy. It prevents stress it seems.

Which AD do you prefer? For me:

fluoxetine: tinnitus
agomelatine: nightmares, irritable
escitalopram: sleepy, tinnitus
I tried more but for little time.
