First off, I'm a female. :) I have been on Nardil for 6 months and finally my ability to achieve orgasm is back to normal! No delay, no problems at all. I'm taking 75 mg/day.
I'm wondering if what causes anorgasmia in Nardil is the same element (for lack of a better word) that can cause anorgasmia or delayed orgasms in Parnate?
The reason I ask is since the sexual side effects of Nardil have gone away, will the same thing be likely to happen with Parnate?
Many people say Parnate has no such sexual side effects, but I've read quite a few stating that they do - either anorgasmia or at least delayed orgasm.

I think it has something to do with seratonin as this is one of the biggies in side effects with ssri's...all ssri's ive tried delay orgasm in low doses and almost completely inhibit orgasm for me in higher doses, as is common for many people. nardil also effects seratonin although I think, not sure though, to a lesser extent than many ssri's. I know nardil has seriously delayed orgasm for me at 75mg (same dose as yours). I think parnate also has an effect on seratonin, although ive never tried. If it does, to any significant extent, than it will most likely have some sexual inhibitory issues.

I think you are right about the serotonin thing in general. It's not an absolute, though.
Parnate had a strange effect on my orgasm/ejaculation. I reached orgasm just fine, but ejaculated just prior to it. I believe it is called retrograde ejaculation. It lasted a week or two. Other than that, I never had a problem with Parnate. Nardil, on the other hand, produced anorgasmia early in treatment that resolved in about 3 months. This seems to be a common phenomenon.

So I guess my question is being that I was able to get over the anorgasmia associated with Nardil, is it the same thing causing the anorgasmia in Parnate? I've been on many SSRI's and the anorgasmia never went away.
So the likelihood being that I have returned to normal on Nardil mean that I will probably be able to do the same on Parnate?
I don't know if I'm putting this the right way :)

Actually yes, for many people, although I'm still a newbie to nardil (only 9 weeks total), anorgasmia clears...ie the delayed orgasm seems to dissipate over time returning to a "normal" state. Those who have complete inhibition of orgasm seem to go through a delay phase then many to full normal response. For many it's just timing...wait out the side effect. Many people on here state complete return to normal function on parnate and nardil, although exceptions are there. So yes, if you can return to normal sexual response on nardil there is a chance you can return to normal response on parnate. I believe it's the seratonogenic properties of both that play the major role.

It seems that Parnate is much less likely to produce anorgasmia. In fact, it might actually enhance orgasm.Have fun!

When you say it would lessen after 24 hours... 24 hours after you started Parnate?
