O.K.
I think I'm to the point of trying parnate. The trazodone has made me vomit today and feel like crap. Was thinking about trying wellbutrin sr, but not sure I want to go trying another ssri med that probably won't work. (not wild about the possible seizures either).
It just seems that among the reviews here and on other sites, the parnate could be the better option at this point.
I know that Jade and some others on here are on parnate. Would really appreciate advice and opinions on this. Such as how it made you feel, BP issues, what to do with hypo or hypertension episodes, how you felt once body adjusted, what you felt going on it and how did you feel two and three months afterwards.
I don't see that I'll have problems with the dietary restrictions. Woke up this morning and BP was 100/68. Very low for me. I don't think the side effects I'm having from trazodone are good.
Please tell me your stories, and experiences in detail. Am waiting for pdoc to call me back as I think I'm just done with this stuff. Can I still take remeron while waiting to take parnate or is that one a no-no med?
Jade - I know what you've gone through the last couple of weeks, but how are you feeling now? More stable?
Thanks alot,
Courtney :-(

Such as how it made you feel, BP issues, what to do with hypo or hypertension episodes, how you felt once body adjusted, what you felt going on it and how did you feel two and three months afterwards.i think i've posted most of this in more depth in bits and pieces in various threads, i'll try to write a summary and you can ask me if there somethien you'd like more detail on.
how it made me feel - after maybe 5/6 days, completely got rid of negative thoughts, self-loathing, doom, etc. able to laugh. not much effect on social anxiety. the first week or two, i felt very fuzzy and confused, but good, it was like being stoned. After that cleared up it has been pretty consistant feeling.
side effects - the initial weirdness, also sexual function stopped when it kicked in, but after a month or so had returned to normal. some waking up during the night, pretty much exactly when REM sleep would occur, i take trazodone for this and i sleep normally now (7h a night, i used to sleep 10 so not exactly normal, but better). also first few weeks was very fatigued/tired by late afternoon. went away in a few weeks. some dry mouth. a few zits on my back. overall, much less side effect than most drugs.
BP - i had one increase in blood pressure, no cause (only had some coffee and an apple and a little bit of ice cream). was painful, bp got to 180/105, i took some clonidine. overall, blood pressure is 120/80 wheneever i check, other than the one time. i'm young and athletic so i think that helps.

>since trazodone didn't agree with you, i'd ask for cyproheptadine for lseep. quetiapine could work for sleep too, but it does a million things and i prefer cleaner drugs when possible.

Hey Bulldog,
I think I'm going to discuss both parnate and marplan with him. Seems like marplan is getting some good feedback also and might be a better choice since I have BP issues.
We'll see!!
BTW - Just wanted to mention that I have a beautiful English bulldog. He weighs about 85lbs. and he is such a momma's boy. He is the sweetest thing ever. I adore him!!

I shall try to be somewhat brief. Was on every tricyclic known to man & none worked (this was 20 yrs ago). Went on Nardil & (AHA!) A drug that actually works! Was feeling so good decided to ween myself off..maybe I was ok after all. A year went by...more & more depressed. Went back on old Nardil (right before they changed it because I was considering getting my pilot's license). Life changed, got laid off, blah, blah, now it's the year 2008. Severely depressed...go to doc & got him to prescribe my old standby Nardil (even tho' I had read this post but at the time it seemed to be working for "some" people. Turns out I am not "some people". Didn't do a thing for me & I asked him to switch me to Parnate. At least I felt a bit better after a month (nothing compared to orig. Nardil or Parnate). Have now been on it about 4 months & it's lame. Got laid off, health ins. down the tubes, so I ordered it out of Canada (could it be a placebo??). Have done nothing but cry on a daily basis. (Was crying b4 I lost my job, fyi). I do not recommend the "New Parnate" unless they put you on a higher dosage that you know your body can take. I have just bumped mine up to 40mg/day. I am curious what dosage those of you that it works for are taking? I don't even have side effects (except for what a dr. once described as "bubbles", ie heartburn). Whoopee! Now I'm severely depressed & have bubbles if I don't eat (BTW, no weight gain).
If you've been on any of the old MAOI's I'm afraid you will be disappointed.
Sorry so long...any input?
Thx,Nikki

Hi d/r,
How long have you been on Parnate? Has it still had no effect on your social anxiety?Have you had an increase in libido on Parnate?
Were you ever on Nardil?
Thanks!

i'd say its basically the same as no drugs. selegiline did increase libido (by a lot).
> Were you ever on Nardil?
no, i ordered some once, didn't come, so i started parnate. then it arrived, so i have a couple bottles of it in my fridge, but never tried it.
