I've been on Nardil for about 6 weeks now, for the last couple of weeks or so at 75 mg. At times I feel very sedated, almost like I'm drugged. I can barely keep my eyes open to work and usually end up going to lie down for a nap.
Does anyone else have this side effect? Does it go away with time?

I used to get that, almost to the point of falling asleep at my desk involuntarily. I started taking Provigil in hopes of gaining benefits for my inattentive ADHD symptoms, and that's helped the fatigue, too.

Gosh, it's been so long, I can't remember exactly. Four or five years or so. For me, the sedation/fatigue feeling was sort of inconsistent. Sometimes it was really bothersome, sometimes it wasn't quite that bad. Often, I wondered if it was perhaps an interaction with my blood sugar. At any rate, because I've also been on Provigil for awhile now, I really can't remember if it ever went away for a longer period on its own, sorry.

Hi Mickapoo,
Afternoon tiredness is a very common side effect of high dosage Nardil and most all MAOIs. It can turn into a vicious cycle when you start taking long naps, then staying up late afterwards. Compounding the problem are the sleep medications which most people on MAOIs have to take for insomnia. Some find relief with low dosage stimulants. Many others just live with it, because without the MAOIs they would not survive. It is a little bit ironic that the best medications for atypical depression, the MAOIs, have side effects that are similar to the symptoms of atypical depression. I'm referring mainly to oversleeping and overeating.
Be Well,
Jedi

Mickapoo,
I no longer take Nardil, but I did experience sedation as a start-up side effect of Nardil. For me, the sedation went away after about two weeks at a given dose. Of course, that was just my experience with the medication. YMMV (your mileage may vary).
