Rozerem problem

Posted by willyee on January 18, 2006, at 4:11:59

When i asked my docter for xyrem, she instead sadly but graciously gave me a literal bag load of ROZEREM.

I took it home, not too disapointed since i knew the odds of her giving me xyrem were slim to none,i was actualy excitied since i dident not tolerate lunesta and ambein was to strong.

Anyway after reading the literature,it seemed so safe and mild for the first time i dident even go online to look it up.

Well heres whats happening,i take the pill, and im fine.......UNTIL i lay down, when i do the insides of m body freak out,i have like eletric bolts and jerk movements in my limbs,i start to fall asleep and jump awake with a jolt inside my head.

Being a new med, scary as it is i dealt with it thinking its just a side effect that will vanish, mainly cause it did work i eventualy fell asleep and awoke fine. Also seemed to halt nightmares.

So i tried a different approach, not to lay down until a very long time after i took it,reason is strangly the symptoms disapppear when i get up.

But nope,i lay down,my limbs jerk,my feet tighten i have to sqeuaze em,i have jolts in my head, serious sh----

I know its not a tablet to cut,the way it is designed, but im thinking of trying that, otherwise ill bring all the samples back to her and ask for ambien xr.

Does anyone have any insight to what, why this is happening to me?

It doesn't sound like the Rozerem. It sounds like a P450 interaction with something else you're taking that is causing a serotonin increase. On the other hand, it could be a wierd Rozerem reaction because something else you're taking is causing a clearance problem, again, through P450. Luvox is a big one, at 1A2 as an inhibitor, and can leave enormous amounts of Rozerem in your system. 3A4 inhibitors have a slightly less but similar reaction.

One would have to know your drug regime.

I would agree there... if you can get by on 5mg of Ambien, you're on a roll and don't have particularly serious insomnia. I take 15mg.

Ambien

I have an rx for 5mg ambien (regular). I take lots of meds (fairly sedating ones) and I've found that I only really need to take half of a pill (2.5mg). Cutting it seems to be okay. My pdoc says that although technically you aren't supposed to do that, but lots of her patients do and find it useful.

Just FYI. Ambien might be worth revisiting.

Best,
EE

I regularly cut my 10mg tablets. It just means sometimes I might get 14mg and sometimes 16mg, because it isn't accurate. I don't believe regular Ambien is enteric or has any coating value like the (patent extender) Ambien CR. In fact, its meant to dissolve as quick as possible for fast sleep relief; food might delay it, I forget.
