Going through withdrawals,lost my job.

Posted by Hlar on May 8, 2005, at 10:35:43

I've recently posted about my withdrawal from Zyprexa-10mg for 5 years, and was prescribed Desyrel(trazodone)to help with the insomnia about three weeks into it.
The Desyrel helped me to sleep-100mg-but I was a wreck during the day. It was probably a combination of Zyprexa withdrawal and the Desyrel side-effects--sweating episodes,a hung-over feeling, sensitivity to light and sound, swelling in the neck area, sore throat, ears ringing, jaw tightness,--a nightmare. Because my psychiatrist reassured me that since we had tapered the Zyprexa down over a few months, withdrawal would be long gone,I questioned the side effects of the Desyrel. Oh,no,no side-effects.
So I believed him and started making rounds with various Dr.'s believing I had a throat infection,mono,something...this had gone on for 3 months,I had the sense to start tapering the Desyrel, but still felt like crap, and work wouldn't give me anymore time off. It was only a part-time job,but still. I had to quit a week ago.
Yesterday my boyfriend found a description of Desyrel on MedlinePlus, and every symptom I've experienced the past 3 months, can be attributed to the Desyrel. I've been off it now for 2 and a half days, after tapering to 12.5,with my "Dr's" consent, and still feel hellish. I'm wondering if I'll ever feel normal again.
