There are worse things in the world, you know, and even if you had to drop this coming term, you can always go back.
I know that's not what you want to hear, of course.
The good news is that your pdoc may not be overly optimistic: You'll usually see some improvement within four seeks on most meds, even though you won't get full effect for a while longer. That's ADs, though. Mood stabilizers are different, but you should still have plenty of time to find out if something will work for you in the five weeks before classes start.
SLS is usually pretty spot on with his advice. And you might talk to your pdoc about trying Li -- it really is said to be the gold standard for mood stabilization.
