one idea is that other people's feelings are... catchy.
another idea is that you project onto other people... your feeling. that feelings that you can't experience as coming from yourself... you experience as coming from other people. that that might be one explanation as to why it is that you magically understand how it is that they feel...
i expect the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
some people... and i expect we are both like this... are more sensitive to the state of others than most others aren't. coarse grained... agitation. calmness. stuff like that. finer grained discriminations, though... well... who knows. agitated people get me feeling agitated and then my agitation agitates them and then their agitation agitates me.
calm people... spread the calm. confident people... well... positive people... there is a reason why people like to hang about with it. because it is catchy.
