so:

round two of: this is it. this is my home for the forseeable future... and grateful i am to have it. i mean, really... i could be here until... well... not until i'm s surgeon... since i'll have a few practice years between finishing medical school and applying for specialist training and i'm pretty sure that you are working through that rather than being a student (living in student accommodation, for instance)... but up until... i finish medical school. so... like... the next 6 years or something silly... though they send us off for a placement at some point... i think that is why people get scholarships... to keep their accommodation secured... and i'd hope to sub-let...

mineminemineminemine ahahaha.

i actually saw a nice 1 bedroom apartment just around the corner to let today... but that is probably post-doc or visiting professor kinda stuff... very pretty. historic medium density... just across the road from the pretty part of campus... one day... sigh.

i loves my house. all... 13 square foot of it or whatever ridiculous proportions it happens to be... the view makes up for things, considerably. and the street people will probably bug off and quit making their noises when the weather gets cooler (isn't that actually awful of me!!)

i've come to realise the greatest noise is actually from the helecopters... coming to and fro the hospital... flying doctor... f*ck yeah.

i think things are going to be alright here. alright for me. i'll do foundations. or... i'll make it work. i will. if they let me drop back to part time and i do a bunch of stuff on my own or whatever... it will be harder for me without foundations but i'll make it work.

if i get good grades here everything will be okay. i just need to prioritise that and not let them enroll me in anything i can't... hur... i'm a little bit scared that i'll suck... i don't think i will suck... i think i just need the opportunity for a little teeny tiny bit of a catch up (math starting from pre-school ahahahahahaha)... getting good grades. having a ... future. here, with them. a viable threat to bug off overseas. i... i could see myself staying if i have a viable life here. so far... i'm starting to see some of that. it makes me feel... loyal. a sense of loyalty. we will see what happens. how things work out.

80% though year 6. have started some of year 7. hurdles to overcome:

- long division. this has become quite the issue. i need to be able to divide small numbers by larger numbers (something involving decimels). i also need to be able to divide double digit numbers in a more time efficient way... the time has come...

- some stuff i'm just not getting. i don't feel like i get... reducing fractions to lowest common denominator... mostly i'm alright but sometimes odd things happen... the lowest common denominator turns out to be a rather large number... i'm not entirely sure how i was supposed to consider that... is it because i'm supposed to consider all primes? but we haven't done primes yet...

- turning fractions that are multiples of 3, 6, 9 into decimals. i'm fairly sure you get .whatever recurring... and it hasn't told me what to do about that... i'm fairly sure... i'm missing something...

- some of the fractions into decimals i'm guessing rather than knowing the rules. stuff involving 4... 25. 75... i remember those as quarters. then sometimes... you times the fraction by 25 to get the decimal out... like uh huh. that would have occured to me (not!!!) am i just supposed to learn a few specific cases (like i've learned about 25 and 75 already) or is there a rule i'm missing...

i'm just... not entirely sure i'm getting... mastery of the concepts. i... wish i had a teacher to ask. and i... don't just want to learn the rules... i want to understand... but sometimes the way you get to understanding is (in part) by actually mastering certain rules.

i'm still only using a calculator for stats. people's eyes are bugging when i'm telling them that ahaha. yes, i'm telling people that i've started math and i'm currently part way in year 6... i have lots and lots and lots of multiplications to be doing... but i actually think... doing them by hand... is helping my times tables a lot. just like how all those sums before helped my addition a lot. i think.... the repetition and drill... and learning to check things twice when you aren't supremely proficient is an important part of actually learning math. and i... want to actually learn math.

i'm finding more people who are like 'oh yeah, i never learned my tables, i couldn't do any calculus but i passed stage two stats'. i... don't want to be one of them. i... actually want to understand.

the physics thing. the fly in a jar on the scales. this... this is crucially important for understanding... what a physical system is - yes. ? and this is important... because dysfunction is relative to system... and if we have an objective (rather than something along the lines of observer relative / question dependent system then... well... this is huge. i need to understand what a physical system is...)

something... something... the flow of electrons...

i do not understand.
