Thanks you guys! I'm feeling much better about things than I did. I'm starting to get the slightest bit excited about the prospect of a new job. I still have things that worry me, but I have a few more things to add to my plan that I think will help, including more references and working on my portfolio. That includes setting up an online portfolio, which I was told by an employment office that I really need to do. So I'm trying very hard to be proactive. I worry that I have too many negative things against me, but all I can do is continue to try to move forward.
Tomorrow I'm going to go down to the unemployment office because on their job page there's a job I'd like to apply for, but I can't get the page to work right. I'm hoping they can help. The job is nearby and in my line of work, but the pay is pretty low. Its about half what I was making. But with unemployment if you get a job, and it pays less then they're paying you, they pay the difference. Plus, you qualify for more money. Last time I did this it was $75 more per week when I worked a part time job. They just subtracted what I made at the job from the amount I qualified for and paid me the difference. So it pays to work, even part time. Of course you have to keep searching for work and apply for at least 5 jobs a week.
So things are looking a little better. I've got a lot of work to do though. Especially the portfolio stuff! Wish me luck.
