I'm in an outpatient program right now to deal with grief and depression. It's every day from morning until late afternoon. I'm getting a lot out of it. You know, you go to a class about communication or something else, like creating boundaries, and at first it seems so basic -- like psych 101 -- but you actually start applying the suggestion to your real life, present situations, and it's a wake up call. I realize I'm passive much more than I thought I was, even passive aggressive sometimes. The program is helping me with self-awareness. Then there's lots of group therapy where I can talk about what I'm going through after the loss of my husband. I'm developing some very nice friends there, too -- people who are going through similar issues. It's amazing how much some of us have in common. Have any of you been in outpatient treatment programs like this after being hospitalized for depression (or any other psychological issues)?
