awwww Chris, art doesn't have to be "pretty"
Hopefully it evokes some type of feeling, the question is what type of feeling?
either way the artwork you posted definitely served a purpose for the artist...it communicated, and much more than that
it's a peek into a world (into a mind) that was disturbing
but there is a lot of REALLY appreciated work that is very much like that
everyone must choose for themselves what they will put on their own wall and live with
