That's partly true -- but the IP address will be registered to your ISP, not to your name, unless you are running your own server.
If your ISP assigns static IP addresses, then you'll have the same IP address every time you log in. That's usually a more expensive option, though, so you're unlikely to have that without knowing. Most ISPs still use dynamic IP addresses. You get whatever IP address happens to be convenient when you log in.
So, mostly, you're safe on the IP address thing.
