One should try and find the most rational, reasonable and logical explanation for these things. Most "ghost sightings" take place at night because these sightings are often simply illusions created by darkness and artificial light. Sometimes there may actually be some form of hallucination involved. I for one have a problem with hypnopompic hallucinations (waking up at night sensing an evil presense, often times seeing snakes hanging from the ceiling, sometimes seeing human figures staring at me, etc.). It can be truly scary, but it is a well-researched phenomenon and there is nothing supernatural about it.
Yes, there may indeed be ghosts, but I have never seen one, nor have I encountered any convincing proof of their existence.
