Actually I prefer when people use my first name. When people in stores call me M'am it makes me feel a tad old. "Sweetheart" or "Honey" feels grandmotherly or in some cases condescending when coming from a woman, but very sweet coming from a man who is an aquaintance, friend, or in some cases a complete stranger. "Miss" is fine in some cases, no one's ever called me "Mrs" or "Ms" yet!!!
My fiance calls me "honey", especially when he wants something. ;-)
