It makes me sad that this tradition is sort of dying. :( Back in my day (the 80's) we'd have a little Halloween parade at school where we'd all wear our costumes. Most schools don't even do that now b/c it is too controversial. Now, I am both a highly PC woman and Christian woman, but I really don't see the harm in most halloween traditions. What could be wrong with first graders dressing up like kitties and princesses? I agree that I don't like anything gruesome or offensive. It's not needed b/c there are so many harmless options.
I love things that make kids happy. I'm dying to have kids of my own. In fact (true confession) I dress up my cat for Halloween. He does not enjoy it, but I do. I think he is ready for me to have some human children so he doesn't have to do such things.
Best,
EE
