I think that TamaraJ's interpretation is probably the correct one but I do remember reading about a few cases of increased hair growth on the skin over a healing broken bone. I think the explanation of this phenomenon was that the injury and subsequent healing of the fracture cause increased blood flow to the area, and this increased blood flow/circulation brings more nutrients and whatever factors cause hair growth (such as hormones, etc.) to the area. Increased hair growth doesn't happen in everyone, however, so I think it just appears to have increased because your skin is pale now.
