I agree that 'homemaker' is a profession / vocation in its own right. One that is very underappreciated. I have a lot of respect for people (male or female) who choose to do this.
But with respect to what I choose for myself, it is not something that I want to do. In all honesty, I lack the ability to be good at it, and in all honesty I lack the desire.
It would be up to my partner whether they want to work or be 'homemaker'. I wouldn't mind supporting them (especially if they are looking after our children) while they do that. I guess my preference would be for them to stay at home with the kids while the kids are very small. But I guess if everyone wants to work - then daycare it is.
But that is something to think about... Do you want kids one day? Would you want them to stay home then?
What if you meet someone who has kids of their own already?
I dunno.
