Yes! Tis the season of parent/teacher conferences. I laugh sometimes when I get the reports or report cards that don't match my perception of my child at all. In my heart, I know them best and I know I'm right, so I try not to let what the teachers say upset me too much. In our family, the theme this year seems to be both of my younger children need to speak up and share their ideas more! When I heard it from both teachers, I just shook my head and wondered what educational concept is "hot" now.
My older son was in the same school from K-8th grade. Every year the reports were the same: he needs more self-control, he needs to quiet down, etc. What a joy at my first high school conference when his teachers praised him for his active participation in his classes. While his elementary and middle school saw it as a detriment, the high school had an entirely different position.
I'm all for strong, independent and LOUD girls. They need to learn this at a young age!
Just my mini rant for today,
antigua
