It sounds like you are saying that it is the traveling itself that is daunting. For me the mode of transportation can make a huge difference. There are times I can't handle the crowds on a bus or train but really enjoy visiting friends if I can get there by car which I think of as a mobile closet to hide in. Or I find trains easier than the bus and both of those easier than airplanes. And of course middle of the night seems to make everything easier for me. This helps with my "being around people" problem but it does make another problem worse. Traveling puts me into a kind of meditative state of mind where there is nothing to do but think about "things" and that this can be unbearable. I haven't found a fix for that one yet.Good luck with your trip and enjoy your time with your family. But, if by any chance you can't make it this time I hope you can keep in mind that another time it WILL be easier and don't beat yourself up over it too much.
