Completely off-topic. Need car advice

I was in an accident last week - sad but funny story - no one hurt, not the other driver, not my cat (thank you God), not me. But my car was totalled. So I am looking at used cars, and have a good lead on a used 1998 Mazda 626 (automatic). Has anyone ever owned a Mazda 626? Automatic? I have heard good and bad. The car I looked at is nice, but if it has a bad transmission, then I don't want it. Anybody have any personal experience with this car? Thank you.
