Ayla,
Meds can help, but often even if the cause is biological, therapy can help in addition to the meds. I know that my issues have helped me make enough of a mess of my life and relationships that therapy is needed - if only to fix the mess.
If the second AD she prescribes doesn't help, then tell her that it's not working and ask what you could do to make her more comfortable with the addictiveness of the Xanax. But maybe the other AD will help and it won't be an issue!
Her comment about Xanax being addictive may have nothing to do with whether she thinks you do drugs or alcohol. Xanax IS addictive, and if you aren't careful with it it can cause a lot of grief - even if you don't have an "addictive" personality.
It sounds to me like you aren't feeling like she is "hearing" you. And that you aren't really understanding her reasons for doing things. It really is worth the effort to try to fix those communication things. Then you'll feel like you are both on the "Let's make Ayla feel better" team.
