Ah! No wonder you weren't eager to recreate that post! It was good and long.
You're right, of course, about drugs being unhealthy and about negative thoughts being equally unhealthy. But I don't think drugs cause a suspension of logic. Logic would tell you NOT to think these negative thoughts; logic would tell you to behave like your dogs.
What some drugs can do is relax you enough to not care, to not let those negative thoughts influence your thinking.
The key is to figure out how to relax and go with the flow, something I (and possibly you) have trouble doing.
It's nice to agree with someone who has good grammar!
