Evidently, now 'Smokey' now tells us that wildfires are inevitable, so we need to learn how to get away from them. The message isn't so much how to prevent a forest fire-it is how to survive one and minimize the damage from a wildire-like a tornado, hurricane, or flash flood. My Uncle worked for the DEA (now retired), who used to work as a high school basketball coach, then Highway Patrolman (when I was a teenager), then with the USFS-then the DEA. He used to tell me stories about flying around in helicopters looking for marijuana crops in the National Forests with infrared binoculars, etc. Interestingly, he used to ask me about how to score grass back in the '70's!
