Hiya,
I was scared shitless about going onto this programme but it has turned out to the best thing I could ever have and will do. It was very nervewracking to begin with - sat in a group with random people, having to talk about your life secrets and stupid behaviour through drinking. But the point is that they're all done the same and much worse so no-one is there to judge you. It's all just about help and support.
The group I was with are now my closest friends and we have really helped each other through this horrible time in our lives. At the end of each sessin we say the following and I find that it really helps:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
Keep coming back, it works if you work it, it won't it you don't.
Basically, these programmes are there to help us and if you allow yourself to admit that you're powerless over your addiction because it now controls your actions, then it will work for you as well.
Good luck.
