trouble,
In my younger in more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since. "I'm not entirely impressed by new music, there are a few bands that I like but I pretty much go with the sure bets my self...as for new music, the strokes, depsite all of the negative killjoys, the white stripes, still off the radar, i wish i had picked up stereolab's 'sound dust' but i didnt, i wanted it on vinyl and they only had super colector person 54 dollar super vinyl... double bummer... islandic sigur ros, god speed you black emperor, or a silver mount zion, both i think some of the same people or all dunno, dirty three, low, mark kozelek and or red house painters, south because they sound like the stone roses, all those bands are pretty much all over the place in style but thats me...
a lot of the new music i listen to is electronic, chris clark, aphex twin, squarepusher, red snapper, boards of canada, autechre... sometimes not some peoples taste, but they're worthy if not for being creative...
plus the old music that im listening to, the plastics, nina hagen, big star, stones, faces, stooges, bowie, tyla gang's first album, the cars first album, the ramones first two albums, anything except 'head music' by suede..."
He didn't say any more but we've always been unusually communicative in a reserved way and I understood that he meant a great deal more than that.
