Of course, timing is important; however, I usually tell a friend early on that I have a mental illness. This allows me to discern which friends
have depth to their character and which
ones don't. My illness is a very big part
of who I am. I don't go into it all the
time, but I do want my closest friends to
know that I have a mental illness. I
would like to know that I could count on
one of them taking me to the hospital, if
