> The peer group I was referring to is my church. This particular church is almost like a spiritual support group. It's open to the wisdom of all religions, and promotes the inherent dignity of all people. It doesn't judge people for their lifestyles (unless they promote intolerance or hate.) It's not bible thumping. As a matter of fact, we hardly ever refer to the bible. It's a progressive, open minded church which really fits with my personality. I would say I have finally found a true peer group. I live in a conservative area, and it's very hard to find like-minded people, so finding this church has been one of the best things that ever happened to me.Is your church Unitarian?
I grew up as a Baptist but never did understand the narrow view of life and death. In my teens I wanted to gain a better understand of my spiritual self. I discovered the Unitarian church. They had a philosophy towards the spiritual self that I felt comfortable with. Instead of having one view of life and death, they belived in learning and understanding all of the different beliefs throughout the world and encouraging you to develop your own spirituality. I find myself to be a Pagan (not the Catholic definition) Beliving in the world around me and exploring how I exsit within it and how I can contribute to it. I think that everyone needs to understand their spiritual selves and accept the beliefs and life style of others "Imagine". Of course I haven't been to church for ten years.
