Hi Lisa,
Glad you're back. I remember you said that you were going away for a bit and didn't remember when you were supposed to come back.
I'm doing well. Haven't had a drink in 34 days. I'm averaging about 10 AA meetings a week and found a great sponsor to help me with the program. I've made a lot of really cool friends and get alot of great advice in the meetings.
I can't tell you what to do or what not to do I can only tell you what works for me. And for me planning to not drink for a month is too far in the future for me to handle. There's a reason that in AA they tell you to take it 'one day at a time'. I can handle not drinking for 24 hours. I get up in the morning, get on my knees and ask my higher power (in my case God) to help me not to drink today. And if I didn't drink I get on my knees again before be and say Thanks.
All I need to avoid is that first drink. It's that first drink that sets up the uncontrollable urge for more. I can't have 1 or 2 and stop. I drink until I pass out. It's been the greatest feeling to wake up in the morning and not feel sick and hungover. It makes me wish I would have gone to AA sooner. But I guess I still had some drinking to do before I was ready.
There's a website called www.sober24.com that's pretty good. I don't remember if I mentioned it earlier. It might be useful if you don't want to go the AA route.
I love to talk about my animals. Even though they drive me nuts sometimes they are a great source of enjoyment. Especially my dog. She's always happy. In my next life I'm coming back as a spoiled dog!
Let me know how you're doing and if there is anything I can do to help.
Big Hugs,
mark
