They were luminous
Huge
in a tiny, wrinkled little face. I think they're the kind of eyes that people get, at a certain point in their life, when they're close to dying. BUt my mother isn't that aged, really. She's going to be 70 this year, seventy. She's going to be seventy years old this year. Her eyes, I finally, finally noticed, are the exact same colour as my youngest child's eyes .. he's nine. And he's incredible, what a beautiful person .. and my mother is getting this luminosity that I think people who are close to dying, get sometimes when they are very very fortunate, very lucky, to be coming full circle ...
It's Frightening.
I love her so much.
She's just beginning to realize this .. and so am I, really, seeing her loneliness for me.. and I want to cry and rage and love her so much, the world's beauty shines through her wizened little face, her huge glowing green eyes .. I've never seen this before in anybody, but I've heard about it.
She's healthy, I think, for her age, I think .. but she's suffered so so much in her life, it's been a tremendous struggle and achievement for her, for anybody to go through life being different and the same from beginning to end. She's going back to being the same, God allow her many beautiful years of loving peace, yet, here with us, knowing we are all happier because of her.
